The ladies team have won their first silverware of what is turning into a fantastic season. The Cheshire Challenge Cup is open to all teams in the Cheshire league irrespective of geography and there are 5 players on a team.
The first round was played before Christmas against Bowdon’s first team, who won the league convincingly last year. A tough game for Evie at 5 losing 3-2 to an up and coming junior who has subsequently moved up Bowdon’s first team. Natalie at 4 won 3-1 after losing the 3rd game after being 8-0 up against an experienced player who dug her heels in to win that one 10-8. Myself, Kirsty and Laura with convincing 3-0 wins at 3, 2 and 1 respectively.
The final was a round robin at Warrington Sports between Brooklands, Northern 1 and GP on 25 January. Best of 3 games otherwise we would have been playing well into the early hours!! A convincing win for the team (Laura, Kirsty, myself, Evie and Liz) winning every match without dropping a game. T
The team are still unbeaten in the league and on course to win their first Championship title since 2005-06.
They have also made it to the final of the Cheshire Cup (only 3 players per team in this competition). They will be up against Bowdon when it is played in late march/early april.
